This is some general advice to help you through this process as requirements for Canadian Work Visas vary widely according to individual circumstances.
We encourage you to contact the Canadian Embassy in Sydney to enquire about your eligibility.
Website: Canadian Embassy Sydney
Ph: (02) 9364 3000
Fax: (02) 9364 3098
Monday to Thursday : 9am - 12pm Sydney time.
As a general guide, here is what we had to supply:
1. Medical Assessment, including chest X-ray and bloodwork. You will be sent the medical forms to take to an approved doctor (as listed by the Embassy). If you live more then a certain distance (I think 200km) from an approved physician, you can apply to use your local physician.
2. Labour Market Opinion (LMO). The LMO confirms that the health region has been unable to locate a Canadian doctor to fill the position you are applying for. Once you have received your offer of employment, your employer will obtain a LMO and forward it to the embassy.
3. Confirmation of Eligibility. This is the notification you should have received from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan, confirming your eligibility to practice.
4. Employment Reference Letter. You can use a copy of the specialist certificates as evidence of your previous employment.
Once you have your "Letter of Introduction", you are good to go. We suggest you double check all of your documents and consider a date of departure that suits yourself and your sponsoring physician. It may be wise to not rush as it can be a stressful transition, so give yourself plenty of time.
Finally! Please be aware that you may still need to pass the CAPE. We suggest not doing anything to permanent (such as selling houses, etc.) until you have successfully challenged the CAPE.
